Common question types
Typical questions show a diagram of a mechanical system, such as interlocking gears, a pulley arrangement, or a lever, and ask which direction a component will move, which gear will turn fastest, or where the greatest force is applied. Some tests also include basic electrical circuit questions or questions about fluid dynamics and pressure, depending on the specific role and provider.
How to prepare
Review basic mechanical principles if it has been some time since you studied them: how gear ratios affect speed and direction, how pulley systems affect force and distance, and basic lever and fulcrum principles. Practise with genuine diagram-based mechanical reasoning question sets under timed conditions, since interpreting the diagrams quickly and accurately is often the real bottleneck, not the underlying physics itself.
