Avoid military acronyms and jargon entirely in civilian interviews, and practise explaining your achievements to someone with no military background beforehand to check they land clearly.

"How do you think your military background will transfer to a civilian workplace?" "How do you feel about a less structured or hierarchical environment than the military?" Show genuine, considered reflection on this adjustment rather than dismissing it as a non-issue.

Rewrite your CV and prepared examples entirely in civilian language before applying, ideally with feedback from someone outside the military.
